Is a pivotal figure in the history of Mata Ortiz. For years Taurina Baca has been one of the best-known potters from Mata Ortiz.

She was Juan Quezada's first non-family pupil and was featured along with Juan and his family in some of the earliest shows in the United States.

She moved to Nuevo Casas Grandes and began a family. She continued to pot, sometimes making very large pieces, but her output was low and was usually purchased immediately by traders who know her work.
